Move Over Shakespeare, This Husband Just Wrote 200 Poems About His Wife and Lived to Tell the Tale
River Vale, NJ – July 15, 2026 – A new book has hit the market, and it proves that marriage is the funniest material a writer could ever find. Gerard A. Lacey just released “King of Rhymes,” a collection of humorous poems that captures the beautiful chaos of married life. After 14 years of writing and sharing his work with family and friends, Lacey finally compiled his best verses into one hilarious volume. The book has already started making its way into homes, parties, and the hands of anyone who needs a good laugh.
“King of Rhymes” delivers exactly what the title promises. Lacey claims his throne with witty, relatable poetry that turns everyday domestic life into pure entertainment. From grocery store wars to secret chocolate stashes, from bathroom renovation nightmares to the silent treatment, he leaves no stone unturned. Readers will find themselves nodding along, elbowing their spouses, and laughing out loud at the painfully accurate observations.
The core message of this book is refreshingly simple. Laughter is the secret ingredient to a happy marriage. Lacey reminds us that when you can laugh at the little things, the big things become a whole lot easier. His poems celebrate the daily banter, the eye rolls, the compromises, and the love that keeps couples together through it all. This book gives readers permission to stop taking themselves so seriously and find the humor hiding in every argument and every hug.
The author targets a very specific audience with this collection. Married couples will see their own relationships reflected on every page. Husbands will recognize themselves in the bumbling narrator who just cannot seem to get it right. Wives will laugh at the portrayal of the woman who clearly runs the show. Anyone in a long-term relationship will find plenty to relate to. Party hosts looking for entertainment will discover endless material. Gift givers searching for something unique will find this book hits the mark every time.
Lacey writes with a voice that feels like a conversation with your funniest friend. His poems follow a bouncy, rhythmic style that begs to be read aloud. The verses are short and punchy, making them perfect for sharing over coffee or at family gatherings. He balances wit with genuine affection, never crossing into cruelty while still delivering plenty of laughs. His writing captures the universal experience of marriage with honesty and humor that resonates across generations.
The book reflects Lacey’s own journey as a writer. He started scribbling poems in 2011 and never stopped. He shared them with family and friends, who kept pushing him to publish. Their encouragement finally convinced him to dust off his collection and release it to the world. The result is a book that feels personal and authentic, like a window into his own marriage and life experiences.
Lacey draws inspiration from his 34-year marriage to his wife Kathleen. Many poems feature her as the star, often depicted as the one in control while he plays the lovable fool. This dynamic creates a warm and relatable foundation for the humor. Readers will find themselves thinking of their own partners and relationships with every turn of the page.
The book has already started generating buzz at family gatherings and social events. Early readers describe it as the perfect icebreaker and a guaranteed mood lifter. The poems work well as quick reads, making them ideal for busy people who want to squeeze some joy into their day. With the holiday season approaching, the book makes an excellent gift for spouses, parents, or anyone who could use a good laugh.
“King of Rhymes” is now available on Amazon and at all major online retailers. Customers can also find it at major bookstores and retailers nationwide. Pick up a copy today and discover why everyone is talking about this hilarious collection.
